FAQS.

As War is Coming is a multifandom game, we do not require you to have an extensive knowledge of all things Supernatural. However, like in all fandoms, the laws of this universe work differently. For example, in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, vampires exist in large numbers for the people of that universe and can be destroyed via a good old fashioned staking to the heart. Here, in the Supernaturalverse, vampires are a species that are bordering on the verge of extinction and, rather than being staked, must be decapitated. Because there are a few important things that need to be known in order for your characters to do certain things in relation to the supernatural elements of the game, this post will serve as a sort of guideline circulating around the 'laws of the land.' Obviously, your character will not know all of these things right away. However, over time and experience, they will, if they choose to, learn all about the ways of the trade as far as the supernatural is concerned.

YOUR CHARACTERS VS THE SUPERNATURAL -

→ Think of this like a video game. In the beginning of, say, Matrix: The Path of Neo, Neo can't fight for squat. He's the office guy, thrown in the middle of some crazy real life video game where he has to learn how to defend himself under instruction. This is the same thing! It is very unlikely that any character here will be able to take on a demon alone at first. It's going to take time and practice - it took the Winchesters their entire lives to learn how to take on the bad guys by themselves and they still have trouble after years of fighting! - so there should not be, in any way, a character who does not find themselves in serious trouble while being faced with demons, etc. until after they've taken it into practice, as Neo had to do, under some seriously heavy instruction and time. We want to stress the importance on this factor, because no character, even the most physically powerful ones, should be able to take on some of these creatures easily. They are not easy to take on at all!

Additionally:

A) Exorcisms; they are not easily memorized. Dean Winchester has been hunting his entire life and he still doesn't have a single verse down. If you plan on having your character memorize one, please play this out realistically.
B) You can't kill a demon without a special weapon. Those are rare and it is very unlikely that your character will ever come to own one. What you CAN do is destroy the host. That means that your character will be killing a human if they try and stab, shoot, etc. the body that the demon is possessing. This will be made example of in game, but afterward if your character should choose to approach fighting a demon in that manner, we ask that you do it sparingly (unless, of course, the person does not care about killing people - in which case, carry on!).

HUNTERS - Hunter is the term used to describe someone who is involved the world of the supernatural. They may be actively hunting, like Sam and Dean, or involved in other activities such as weapons supply.

→ Hunters are rare. It was pointed out that there are now more demons on earth than there are hunters to take them on.
→ Most people are unaware of the existence of hunters. As, to most people, monsters do not exist, neither do the people that hunt them.

DEMONS - In folklore, mythology and religion, a demon is a supernatural being that is generally described as a malevolent spirit.

→ Most, if not all, demons were originally human, but during their time in hell they lose all trace of their humanity.
→ Appear as a ‘black smoke’ in incorporeal form. Demons manifest by possessing humans. Humans possessed by demons exhibit black, red, yellow or white eyes depending on the demon involved.
→ An exorcism will drive the demon from its human host and return it to hell. Mind you, it has to be the correct exorcism, so the information would have to be obtained from a reliable source.
→ Covering all entrances to a home with rock salt will prevent a demon from entering. Holy water is effective against them; regular weapons are not. There are only two known weapons in the world that can kill a demon: A) The Colt, which Lilith possesses and B) Ruby's knife. Regular weapons can hurt the demons, but they will not kill them.
→ Demons have a range of abilities including mind control, telepathy, telekinesis, and super strength.
→ A Devils Trap is a symbol, usually drawn on the floor to trap any demon who crosses over it. The trap is usually used during exorcisms to keep the demon in place while performing the ritual.

ANGELS - An angel is an ethereal creature who assists and serves God or the gods of many religious traditions. In the Christian bible, angels are portrayed as powerful and dreadful, endowed with wisdom, correct in their judgment, holy, but not infallible. When their duties are not punitive, angels are beneficent to man. When their duties are punitive, they are known as avenging angels and are mentioned inverses such as II Sam. Xxiv. 15, in which an angel annihilates thousands on God's command. These avenging angels are used by God to punish men for their sins.

→ Angels became active on Earth to stop the breaking of The 66 Seals.
→ Take on mortal form by possessing human bodies (although these may be voluntary "possessions").
→ Their true voice and form can be discerned by some "special" people, but to others it is "overwhelming" and painful to behold. Similarly, their true form can burn out the eyes of one who spies upon it and their voice shatters glass, causing the earth to quake and the ears of man to bleed.
→ They operate in hierarchical units called garrisons.
→ Angels can only speak to humans in their dreams or from within the body of a mortal human.
→ Can be sent away using the Angel Banishing Sigil. The symbol has to be drawn in the blood of the vessel an angel is possessing.

CREATURES AND SPIRITS - As there are so many creatures and spirits within the Supernatural universe (ghosts, vampires, etc.) it's hard to list them all in detail. If you should need to look for any references, however, this link will provide you with an effective guide.
